There are many different types of play.
Physical - where we use our bodies

eg:
playing on a climbing frame
doing an obstacle course
basketball
playing a jumping game onto the big mattress
dancing
Exploratory - where we use our brains, hands and solve problems or discover new things

eg:
exploring in the sandpit
exploring in the garden
playing with water
playing in mud
playing with clay and play doh with loose parts
taking apart a machine
going on a treasure hunt
Constructive - where we build things

eg:
playing with blocks or mobilo
playing with lego
building cubbies
building the turtle enclosure
Imaginative or Pretend Play - where we pretend to be things or act out what we know from our life

eg:
using a stick as a sword and pretending to be a knight
dress ups
home corner or mud kitchen
Rule Based Play - where we play a game that has rules

eg:
Playing a card game or board game like Monopoly
Playing cricket
Playing hopscotch
Playing tennis
