CERTIFICATE 3 INFORMATION
The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is the minimum qualification needed to become a co-educator/assistant working in an early childhood setting.

Once enrolled in a Traineeship, Kate will officially be studying a modified version of the Certificate III through a registered training organisation. She will likely still need the assistance of a one on one coach to help her complete the Cert 3. Kate has already learned a lot of the content of the Cert 3, but will need to revise and revise until she remembers it and do the tasks on this website to consolidate her learning. She will also need to practice implementing learning experiences for the children at HEY or another centre so she can prove to the examiner that she has passed the assessments. The more Kate practices in real life, the more the experiences will form part of her cell memory as well as her brain memory. Once that happens teaching will come very naturally for Kate.

These are the clusters she will be studying which focus on interaction with children, understanding their development and the importance of learning through play, understanding culture and how the children's backgrounds and learning from their families affect them as learners and understanding health and safety.

PLEASE NOTE: At the request of Kate's mum, the content on this website has modified the required criteria in the Certificate 3 so that the focus is on pre-school aged children rather than infants and also to take focus off organisational procedures and policies. It is heavily focussed on interactions with the children.
